So I am trying to get a multiplayer system working.
I am using Unity 2019.4.20f1, and I am using Photon for a multiplayer solution (if anyone has anything similar which is free, please tell me!). I am new to multiplayer solutions, so this is quite annoying for me. Currently, I have the game working, but not the multiplayer. I try to create a room, but it will spawn my player in the air with no movement. This only started to happen today. Ontop of that, players cannot join the other room, which has also just appeared today. If anyone knows why, please help! (Just incase you need to see the code, I have attatched the files) https://we.tl/t-w7xoxW8sqA <-- wetransfer link
hey there,
that is quite a lot of questions you have there... First up about photon alternatives. Depents on what you mean by "Photon". Photon is the company that offers a lot of different products. Are you refering to "PUN"? If so then i assume you search for another peer-to-peer solution with the same backend where in the end as far as i am aware PUN will be your easiest solution. There are other popular networking solutions out there (e.g. Mirror or Darkrift2) but most of them do not offer a peer-to-peer system.
About the rest: please go at this one at a time. About players not joining the room it'd be really important to know what error you get. Also what kind of network setup you have and if you try to selfhost the load balancer.
Then the spawning thing: please post the relevant code in here. I ain't gonna click some shortlink someone posts in here. Also please add how you set up your players and what kind of PhotonView setup you use to try and sync your position.
