Switch Platform - different meshes/materials/shader possible?

Hi,

i´m thinking about a game which should be available as a high-end version for powerful pc´s and a medium version for desktop-browsers. Sure it would be nice if the third platform would be low-end mobile version ;)

To switch between different platforms (browser/mobile) is quite nice, when just set up all the textures. But i´m also looking forward to use different geometries (low-mid-high polycount) and different shaders to get the best visual quality.

We would have lots of materials, so what would be the best workflow to switch between various materials? Any tips and hints about the possibilities for these three platforms?

I just found this, but i´m wondering how we could set up over 200-300 different materials for the three different platforms with different shaders and parameters...? Any other ideas?
