how to use serial communication in unity visual studio script,how to access System.IO.Ports or serial communication in unity visualstudio script

i am trying to control an object using arduino by including the library System.IO.Ports but the library is not being recognised in visual studio script. pla help me with this problem or suggest me an alternative,i am trying to control objects in unity using arduino and for that serial communication is required. i am not able to run the library system.IO.Ports. can u give me an alternative
