Baked GI noise / artifacts

My scene is lightmapped static room with directional light. Shadows on walls are not smooth. How do I fix it? I tried tweaking everything under Window > Lighting > Settings and Lightmap Parameters, but nothing seems to affect this noise. alt text They go away only if I disable Baked Global Illumination, but scene doesn't look realistic then. alt text I enabled Generate Lightmap UVs on model. Worst case scenario - I'll have to bake lightmap using Blender. But I'd like to avoid this.

Turns out these artifacts are called gradient banding and are caused by lightmap compression. Fixed it by disabling lightmap compression in Window > Lighting > Settings. alt text Lightmap size increased from 2 MB to 9.3 MB.
