re-import/opening games made about a year ago failing.
I worked with my students on Unity about a year or two ago and it is unable to open any versions of the game i have made. Is there anything i can do?
Have you tried creating a new project and copying in your old-project assets? If you do this, in sections, and allow unity to import the new assets for each section before moving on to the next: you ought to be able to narrow down the cause of the issue to a particular asset or script.

Never had any problem like that. You might want to file a bug report and attach your project. I've successfully upgraded "old" projects from all sorts of Unity versions going back to 2.6, 3.0, 3.3 ...
There might be something broken in your project. Do you remember what features you used in that project? Was the asset serialization mode set to binary or text? I guess it's not possible to publish / share the project here?
