Load and Compilation time issues
I've been having a problem with project load times. Whenever I make a change to anything, be a script, value in the inspector, scene, etc. It will take 5-10 seconds to load and let me do anything else. I've spent a while looking through possibilities; it's not my hardware (I have a decent gaming rig and also cloned and tried this same project on a roommate's desktop), I've gone through tons of forum posts talking about ways to reduce compilation time of scripts through file structure. So I began making backups and going through removing stuff. I'm using RAIN AI for my AI system and when removed that wasn't the issue; I'm also using tons of models I've found in the asset store. So far, I think I've come to the conclusion that a small building pack I was using was causing most of the lag. It didn't contain any scripts, it was fairly low poly, and I only had 10 in my scene. This is sort of bothering me because I don't know what about it was causing the loads, and it was also the best thing I could find for what I need in my project (I'm not an artist and need to finish as much as I can in the next 3 months). I'll put the github here, and could someone also recommend any good building packs for a semi-run down and small but modern town type of setting? For free or low price? Thanks!
As a side question, I'm also very new to AI Game programming, and so far RAIN seems good, but it's been an extremely hard process to learn due to some lacking of documentation. Would other people recommend RAIN for AI and pathfinding needs in a project, and if so could someone point me to some decent recent documentation or tutorials? Or do people use the built in Nav Agent and Nav Mesh components for AI needs, or other AI extensions?. Would appreciate any feedback, thanks!
(For anyone who looks at the project, this is more of a rough playing with AI and getting a feel for environment design I want in my game than anything. Not really representative of how I want the game to turn out yet).
