Standard Model Problems- after upgrade to 5.6.1
I recently upgraded from Unity 5.6.0 to 5.6.1f1
Now when create a new project, add a sphere, and attempt to select a different mesh for the object, the standard unity model icons look wrong. It looks like they are all being overdrawn with a cube.
I have attempted uninstall and reinstalling unity 5.6.1, but continue to get the same issue.
I tried a different user account on the same computer, but the issue remains.
Is this particular to my system, or do you have the same issue? (I DO have a project that generates preview icons for the project view, I guess it's POSSIBLE that somehow caused this issue. Alas, I'm NOT sure if this issue occurred, before I opened and upgraded that project. My tests are all with new projects.)
How do I fix this?
I should also mention that the preview pane for the pre-fab of a mesh, does not seem to be clearing/refreshing properly when I mouse-drag to rotate them. It also does not update the preview when I change the selected mesh, until I select a different item, then select the prefab. Here is an example:
I'm not sure if this issue is related to the first, or not. I have checked the "issues" database but did not find these issues mentioned by anyone else.

The model preview has been noted and fixed in 5.6.1p1 , if you upgrade to the latest patch you should find that it does not reproduce anymore ^_^
Thanks! Guess I was using the wrong terms in my search though the issues database (not surprised- I SUC$$anonymous$$ at searching).

I have the same issue, I actually don't understand anymore what is in those icons. I also have a problem with Shininess property in all shaders, they look grainy whenever I increase the value from 0.
Oh gosh, thanks for the feedback! Sanity restored! Do you have BOTH the issues mentioned above?
I'm rolling back a unity version to 5.6.0 in a $$anonymous$$ute: will report results here.
I am currently updating to Unity 2017.1.0b6 (Beta). If this doesn't fix issues, I will also go back to previous version.
Rollback to 5.6.0 DID resolve both issues fo me. (not sure about shininess issue you mentioned- not sure how to test it.) Also submitted BugReport... (not sure how to get the report's ID number, or whatever, for followup)
Unity 2017.1.0b6 doesn't have icon problem. You can also rotate prefab models in preview window without problem (but cannot zoom, was an option before?)
$$anonymous$$y problem with sharers, shininess property remains, so I'll downgrade to previous version. Hope my project can be downgraded as well.
