Video formats supported by Unity FREE
Hello, I have recently been trying to figure out how to use a video file as a MovieTexture, so far the only format with which I managed to play a video was the .ogg format. The unity documentation specified that other formats like .mp4 and .avi were supported but when trying to import such files they weren't recognized by Unity Free. I am aware that MovieTexture used to be a Pro-only feature that's why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance !
PS: I use Unity 5.5.2
tanoshimi's anser is correct. As a side note,be aware of Video co$$anonymous$$g in 5.6: https://docs.unity3d.com/560/Documentation/$$anonymous$$anual/Video.html

OGG Theora is the only video format supported by Unity. When you add an MP4 or AVI asset to your project, it is converted to OGG via Quicktime.
There is no such product as "Unity Free" - there is only one Unity. It's just there are different licence types.
Thank you ! Yeah I was referring to Unity Free because if I remember correctly there used to be a license restriction for using $$anonymous$$ovieTexture.
