+1 Right, Unity work always the same. A newer version just adds more features or change some tiny things. The basic concept stays the same.
Still, you will probably have to go through the codes following the warnings in order to modify the changes. For instance, some old tutorials use old style array and a warning will pop up. Lately, all various activations like gameObject.active (real old) and SetActiveRecursevely (Unity3x) have been simplified to SetActive method and isActive variable.
Good point, there is real few you cannot fix and you will learn a lot before even starting.
