Selected Mesh in inspector is missing name, the link to mesh in assets is also missing
Hi All,
I've attached a picture which shows an example of the Mesh filter with mesh inspector issue.
As shown with the red box, the Mesh name is missing?? If I click on it, it should select this mesh that has come from a model stored in our Assets folder. This is not the only case in the project. About 30/350 models are experiencing this issue.
It's causing us a lot of issues so any help would be hugely appreciated.
EDIT: Below is the inspector when I click on the mesh with no name. This is all non run time
Thanks in advance, Aaron
I've got the same issue when generating a combined mesh using $$anonymous$$esh Simplify plugin's 'combine meshes' function. I guess it's due to broken code but I can't locate the mesh as it has no file identifier generated.

Are you assigning the mesh from code? I think this happens when values are generated dynamically from code.
Not for these kind of models, a large number have been smoothed by an external asset TCP, but that saves the mesh back into the Asset folder and you can see in the working example the mesh name and reference to asset folder works as expected.
I can't confirm if this process happened for the 30/350 models with missing names for mesh, but I don't think so as the smoothed mesh directory containing processed mesh does not include these models.
The GameObject hierarchy of models may be the issue, some of the models came through with some empty GameObjects and these are removed in prefabs, usually didn't cause any issues.
I'll add another screenshot of the inspector when I click on a non named mesh.
Cheers, Aaron
