Which character encoding/file format should I use in a shader to avoid compilation issues?
Hi,
from time to time a user says he can't compile a simple shader I put in my asset.
The shader is bullet proof and easy, I remember it was matter of file encoding or the likes.
Could you please help me choose the right one to avoid compilation issues on other non-PC machines?
File Formats:
PC
Unity / Mac OS X
Mac OS 9
Character encodings:
ANSI
Unicode
Unicode big endian
UTF-8
UTF-8 + BOM
For some reason I can't set it to UTF-8 but only to UTF-8 + BOM. I was having issues with ANSI.
Could you please help me? Thanks for your time
I use UTF-8 (no BO$$anonymous$$) and haven't had any issues. That's using Notepad++.
Thanks, I'll try using Notepad++ and will change the encoding and see if the issue goes away.
Nope, the user can play the webplayer with the shader but has errors in the shader when tries to compile it by himself, any clue?
