2048x2048 texture mapped for whole building or 5 diff textures for wood beam, floor, wall, window etc?
i used to build building from "blocks" now i started modeling whole building as one mesh. now i've come across this page https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/HOWTO-ArtAssetBestPracticeGuide.html and it says (if i get it right)that its better to have single textures,so what is it. ?

depends on what you’re using it, on sprites you’re good to go with one texture per object, but if your texture is repating like on a wall you should use one texture per uv, because of the scaling
