Get position of ui element on canvas

Question

I am trying to get the canvas space position of 2 UI Elements. I have already got a reference to the RecTransform but I am not getting the position from them. They sit under an object with the vertical layout component, is that the problem?

I have found the problem. I need to wait for the first frame as stated in this post.
