Question by Maurice_B · Feb 20, 2016 at 11:12 AM · layersreflection

Make a reflection probe only reflect 1 onto certain objects?

Is it possible to make a reflection probe only affect certain objects e.g. those on a certain layer? If so, how? Thanks.

Say you have two reflection probes, one realtime the other not.

Ref1 - simple Ref2 - realtime probe

You have two objects, one you want realtime the other regular

Obj1 - simple Obj2 - realtime

Go to Obj1's mesh renderer and set refl. probes to simple; then set the anchor override to probe Ref1 (you will have to select ALL mesh renderers that you want to keep simple).

Go to Obj2's mesh renderer and set refl. probes to simple; then set the anchor override to probe Ref2 (you will have to select ONLY mesh renderers that you want to keep realtime).

Let me know if this helps ;)

Instructions for using Reflection Probes are in the manual; http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/ReflectionProbes.html

Look up the Culling Mask property.

@Riderfan Thanks for the suggestion however it is not quite what i want. I have one object in my scene which i want to be reflective in real-time however the reflection probe affects all nearby areas.

Thanks,

You can check in the mesh render sending, there is an option of reflection probes, under probe settings, just set this value "Reflection probe" to "off", this mesh will no more be affected by reflection probes
