Creating model 3D Character for Unity (Where)

Hi guys, I started my adventure with Unity few days ago. I would like to ask You about few things. Which program will be the best to create new model 3D with animations and easy to implementation to Unity 5? I started to create in Blender a new hero to my game, can i just replace character model with FirstPersonFPS model from Standard Assets in Unity 5? I was looking for some topics about that in Uncle Google, but i didn't find anything. Have you some tutorial about implementation 3D characters models?
