TouchScreenKeyboard swipe text
We recently got feedback from Google about text input in our app not working with Swype input (where you swipe between letters instead of individually tapping each one) on the default Lollipop keyboard.
In a test project in Unity, I set up a basic script that prints to debug the text kept in the keyboard object, I can see the things I type individually, but I don't see anything that's swiped in the keyboard (while or after swiping).
Here is the code I'm using:
void Update () {
if (_keyboard == null)
{
return;
}
Debug.Log("Text: " + _keyboard.text);
}
The call to open the keyboard is:
void OpenKeyboard() {
TouchScreenKeyboard.hideInput = true;
_keyboard = TouchScreenKeyboard.Open(string.Empty, TouchScreenKeyboardType.ASCIICapable, false, false, false, true);
}
_keyboard.text doesn't contain anything while swiping text.
I tried looking online but could not find any relevant info no where. Is there something I'm missing? does TouchScreenKeboard not support this action? is this found written anywhere in Unity ref/Manual?
Thanks!
Nobody at Unity has ever read this one? I got this problem too.
@Sscia what happens if you disable the hideInput? I found out that swipe works again.
