Does max terrain height affect performance?
Is a 1000x1000x600 terrain any worse off than a 1000x1000x1200 terrain? or 1000x1000x5000?
It's just a stored float for calculating the terrain vertices y values right? It shouldn't change much regardless of the maximum value should it?
of course big jumps in height would look ugly, but I'm only asking about performance.

Pretty sure height is stored as float between 0.0 and 1.0 and then scaled by height value, so I shouldn't think it would make a difference.
