Question by crystalwizard321 · Sep 09, 2017 at 05:27 PM · tutorialsloading screen

Stupid newbie loading screen question

This is going to make a lot of your laugh or groan, but I have to ask it. I'm very new at Unity, and I've gone through a number of the tutorials. I'm doing okay with them, but none of them ever address how to create AND attach a loading screen to a finished game.

So I'm stuck. I can't, for some reason, visualize how to do this. All I want at this point is a static image that shows while the game loads, then goes away once it's finished loading so the game can start.

I need a step by step tutorial for this, preferably not something that's specific to any one game but that will work with games that already exist, or games I'm just starting on, so I can clearly see exactly what to do, but I can't find any. So I'd really appreciate any help you can give.

You must not be a newbie then. I am.

I watched the tutorial and read the information at his link.

  • I still don't know where to put the code he discusses

-don't know how to get unity to let me display a full screen image

-And still can't find a step by step "do this, now do this, now create this script file, now call this function over here in this routine" sort of tutorial to create a loading screen and insert it in an existing game that doesn't already have a loading screen.

it didn't. I'm not asking for help to create a loading screen, but rather attach something that can be used as a loading screen to an existing game OR to a game I'm creating.

  • Assume I have a game called Fidgets, which consists of just clicking on stuff.

  • Assume it's complete.

  • Assume I have an image of a dog that I want to display while the game loads

How do I do that?
