Running Unity Pro features and connecting to asset server without a Pro license
I've been told that its possible to integrate Unity into a build workflow without having a Pro license so long as you only use Unity from the command line. Is this true?
I was highly suspicious of this working since our build workflow must connect to asset server and the build script uses methods that are marked "Pro only" in the documentation. We tried it and connection to the asset server fails when using a non-Pro version of Unity. I don't want to jump to conclusions though, perhaps there is some configuration trick that would make it work, though I'm doubtful.
I was suspicious as well. The connection was attempted with a free version of Unity under Windows and I doubt the result would be any different if this was attempted from a $$anonymous$$ac.
Change your "workflow" or buy Pro? WTF you are discussing how to rip-off devs. Pretty pathetic
If the answer were Yes and you then proceeded to do so, then Yes you are s$$anonymous$$ling, circumventing, whatever. Why clog the board with this nonsense? If you think there is a possible oversight that can be exploited by nefarious neer-do-wells then report it to Unity?
You still couldn't (legally) have non-Pro users connecting to an Asset Server that Pro users work with, since the License specifies that everyone on a project has to have the same License level. I may have that ter$$anonymous$$ology wrong, but basically, "A company, incorporated entity, or individual may not use both Unity and Unity Pro. So a $$anonymous$$m can't mix those two licenses." http://unity3d.com/unity/licenses
