Unity3D Crashes when baking terrain
I have an 8000x8000 terrain with a heightmap resolution of 4096(or whatever that snaps to). It begins baking, and reaches Creating Systems, when the console is spammed by errors saying
instance: Terrain
Failed creating system: 0x65e41129c8aabb810a786e7d1523c532.
The string changes each time.
My computer specs are Intel Pentium @ 3.2Ghz; AMD Raedon Dedicated graphics, 2GB; 8GB DDR-3 RAM; running unity from a 500GB HHD and saving to a 2TB HHD with over 1.5TB left over.
If needed I can link to a dump file of Unity from when it crashes.
I am having this error too. Did you ever find a solution?
I have not found a solution yet; but splitting the terrain into smaller segments helps somewhat; and will occasionally allow it to finish baking.
Could you create a bug report and share the bug number?

This happens to me too, but I have 16 default sized terrains, and it wont even let me open my scene anymore without crashing.
