Tower Defense Games

Originally created for Warcraft 3 as mods and maps, Tower Defense Games are a subgenre of real-time strategy video games. The goal of Tower Defense games is to build powerful, upgradable towers to shoot down enemies going a certain line on a path. As you upgrade each tower, they can gain health and power as well as acquire special AOE, freezing or explosive abilities that will further help you against the horde of beasties. When you kill a minion or boss you get a certain amount of gold which you can then use to upgrade your towers further between the waves. Some tower defense games have boss waves were just one or two creatures will stomp down the lanes and it will require very strong towers to destroy. If you let to many creatures through your towers it will mean you've lost the game.
