Getting Rid of Quick Flash

In my build (standalone player) whenever I switch between quality settings the screen flashes and goes completely transparent for a split-second. I'm pretty sure others have experienced this before as I've tested this on various projects and the results were the same. Is there some type of trick to work around this?
