Can this explosion effect be created in Unity 3.5?

Hi guys. First time asker here. Has anyone seen this explosion effect by Jaume Sánchez Elias? http://www.clicktorelease.com/code/perlin/explosion.html

Its amazing, quite similar to the effect shown at the unite unity 4 demonstration. I was just curious as to ask if this effect would be possible to achieve inside Unity 3.5 or would DX11 be required to achieve the perlin noise etc. This effect was created using webGL I believe. Cheers

Not exactly Unity, but I've created a tutorial explaining how to do vertex displacement with WebGL and GLSL. It should be pretty straightforward to do in Unity
