Doing delay or a wait on a static method

I'm trying to make a tetris/columns game, I got to it to check and delete connecting blocks. But I want to slow it down so it doesn't do everything so fast. Problems is, all my methods are static, and it doesn't seem to want to use Invoke, Lerp or WaitForSeconds to slow down. Does anybody have any ideas?
