Question by Code_Helix · Jul 24, 2013 at 01:11 AM · beginnerwindowstutorial

Any beginner tutorials for Windows Store games?

Wondering if there are any beginner tutorials on making a game for the Windows store that includes using both touch and keyboard/mouse input and demonstrating with a very simple game. I appreciate any help you all can give me.

How about looking at any desktop tutorial and a mobile tutorial. You are technically building for both

Is there any good one you'd recommend for a beginner that's written in c#?

@Code_Helix I'd recommend starting in a less higher level environment, so that one gets both an appreciation and an understanding of the underlying concepts of a game engine (I$$anonymous$$O). But if you really want to start learning for Unity, I suggest Unitygems.com,
as well as a google search XD

@Benproductions so I should start with something like XNA/$$anonymous$$onogame, correct?

@Code_Helix TBO I suggest starting with pure program$$anonymous$$g (no engine), then moving on to using modules to accomplish making a small game (no engine), then moving to something like Unity. (Thats what I did and it really helped when compared to people I know who went a different way) (I started with python, went on to using pygame, then Unity (In short))

I'm not directly suggesting you go this exact way. $$anonymous$$any people start with using a game engine, but it does have some disadvantages later on ;)
