Question by Dubious-Drewski · Aug 09, 2013 at 01:51 AM · lightlightmapstaticdynamicbake

Dynamic lights being baked into scene?

This is strange, glitchy(I think), frustrating behaviour.

I have a few non-static lights in my scene (Player flashlight, animated campfire light, etc), and when I bake my scene (Which consists of a terrain and some objects), the static lights AND the non-static lights bake into the lightmap. And even worse, after baking, the dynamic lights don't function at all; I cannot do anything to make them emit light in any way, even though they are still "enabled".

To fix the problem, I have to delete all of the existing non-static lights and replace them from my prefab library. It's a HUGE pain in the ass.

What's going on here? Has anyone experienced this?

Answer by Dubious-Drewski · Aug 10, 2013 at 02:45 AM

If turn off my lights and then add a script to each light which turns itself on on awake, it solves my problem. It's a work-around, and I don't think I should have to resort to that, but it works.

I'm really surprised at you guys. Either this is a completely unique problem and I'm the first to ever experience it, or you're too lazy to help a brother out.

When I get good at all this, I'll be sure to answer these questions as best I can - even the dumb ones. I did it for the Blitzmax community, and I'll do it here.

It's so frustrating to be constantly ignored.
