Invisible Mesh with Animation And Shadow Sync...???,Invisible Mesh Animation with Shadows?
Hi, This is my first question in the forum. I am Brazilian. Sorry by my English...
I am trying to create a character that has shadows and has his Mesh invisible on camera. I already set it to "Shadow Only" ... but that makes the shadow static. If I leave it as "On" .... the shadow is perfect, but the mesh is visible what I do NOT want. Can anyone explain to me why this happens? Thank you.,

OK ... I figured out the solution. In the Mesh Renderer tab there is an option to tick: "Update when offscreen" (I don't know how I haven't seen this before !!) I ticked this and put it to render only the shadows and it worked. Basically Unity disables the shadow update for better performance. I hope this helps.

Hey, sorry to bring up this question again, but I'm trying to do the same thing but the "update offscreen" doesn't work for me for some reason.
Would be grateful for any more tips or pointers.
Just wanted to follow up that I found the problem: I had a bad animator that moved the character mesh up and away from my first-person controller, thus I couldn't see any shadows.
