How do I overlay an image on a terrain in the editor?
I have an image I've made in Photoshop with mountains, rivers, and other terrain features that I would like to overlay on the terrain in the editor to aid in the editing process. Is this possible?
In what way would this aid the editing process? Specifically, are you hoping to use this to help you paint heights, textures, or both? You can "paint heights" to a greyscale heightmap in photoshop and use that as a heightmap. Depending on what you've got, you could simply alter your helper image and use that as a heightmap. To help you paint textures, you could do the same to the terrain's splatmap in photoshop.
There's not necessarily a need to achieve what you're talking about. If you're deter$$anonymous$$ed, you could write an editor script which would display your image superimposed atop the terrain, but this is probably more trouble than it's worth.
