Text doesn't change with string C#

I have a slight issue here. I am trying to do the thing that this script describes, however the "Story text" is not changing. Awaiting those awesome responses

   //choices, string changes based on choicestate
     public void positiveB()
     {
         negativestate--;
         positivestate++;
         ae.GameState = 1;
         ae.StoryState += 1;
     }//possible states are 3
     public void negativeB()
     {
         ae.GameState = 2;
         positivestate--;
         negativestate++;
         ae.StoryState += 1;
     }//possible states are 3
     public void neutralB()
     {
         ae.GameState = 3;
         neutrallstate++;
         positivestate--;
         negativestate--;
         ae.StoryState += 1;
     }//possible states are 3
     public void nullB()
     {
         nullstate++;
         neutrallstate--;
         ae.GameState = 4;
         ae.StoryState += 1;
     }//possible states are 3


and the "ae" script described in the code above where "StoryText" Lies:

             {

                     StoryText.text = sP;

             }

             {

Let me just include that I already tried removing the Else statements, changing the overall structure and such. Unfortunately I cannot show the code as a whole but please request any part of the code separately.

Which class is "StoryText"? Do you mean the Update method and the problem is the missing P, or do you declare your own method Udate? And you assign the reference of sP and fP. Do you mean the content of the string? Than you need a clone of the string.

StoryText is a text object. I declare my own method Updated. The content of the string fP, sP doesn't apply to the StoryText.text on each gamestate. It just states New Text on the screen.
