Working on multiple tilemaps at the same time
Is it not possible to choose more than one active tilemap at Tile Pallete to work on multiple layers at the same time?

I don't know if I understood your question. Why would you want to work on multiple layers?
You need to select the layer you will work to make it easy to you to build your game, if you were capable of editing more than one layer at the same time how would you know in which layer you draw your tilemap?
Tell me what you were trying to do, I guess this way it will be earier to help you.
I need to have two same tilemaps which then I will use for different purposes. One will be grayscaled for an effect, the other one will stay the same.
It would be nice to be able to select multiple active tilemap layers when rearranging entire sections of the tilemap.
It would be nice to 1) Set multiple active tilemaps 2) Use the select tool to choose an area 3) Use the move tool to move the selected area across all tilemaps
The alternative is that you have to do the same series of select and move steps for each tilemap which slows down tilemap editing.
