Question by javicloud · Jul 02, 2014 at 09:41 AM · scalesizebackgroundportraitdpi

Images in games

Hello, i am new in unity and i love it, but i have a basic question with the backgrounds.

I will create a game for Android and Windows in portrait and i will request a designer to create the background but i dont know which size and dpi i need to request because the resolution of each device is different.

Do i need to request a big image like 1080 x 1920 (portrait)? Does Unity scalate the images for each device?

I will appreciate your help!

Thank you. Javier.

Impossible to answer because there are so many ways you can put images on screen. In most cases you decide when it's scaled and where it's not. $$anonymous$$ake it more specific

Since its a background, you'll be scaling the background picture to fit the resolution of every screen. Maybe by a GUITexture set scale 1 in the X and 1 in the Y axis. In that case you need the picture as high resolution as possible. I don't think 1080x1920 is as big enough as you need. The bigger the resolution the better.
