Question by JoeStrout · Jul 27, 2011 at 10:39 PM · asset-storereview

How to rate or review an Asset Store item?

I see other people have rated these things, and posted reviews... but darned if I can find any way to do so, or any instructions for doing so, even for assets I've downloaded.

Can someone please point out what I'm missing?

In Unity 3.5, click on the Asset Store. Then find the "downloaded plugins" icon, which is the fourth one on the top of the screen. It is a triangle pointing down into a tray of some type (pretty lame). Scroll down to your plugin of choice and choose the 'review' action from the rightmost drop-down menu

Yes, you can. But please don't leave questions as answers.

When you are logged in you can click on the bottom line of stars of an item you bought to rate it and click on the write a review to review it.

But you can't do it for things you didn't buy on the AS

I'm logged in, but I don't see a "bottom line of stars" -- the only stars on the page are the "Avg. Rating" line right below the title. Where is this supposed to appear?

Note that this is a free item -- so I didn't technically buy it, but I did download it through the AS. Others have managed to rate/review it, so surely that's not the problem?

I cant rate cubemapper which I purchased through the asset store either, I see the following on the cubemapper page:

Catergory: Editor Extensions Publisher: Spredcamp Rating: Not yet rated Your Rating (5 grey stars I can't click) Version: etc. etc.

I've written a review which gave me 2 boxes to fill in, a Title and a box for the review

Do you need the pro version to rate assets?

No, pro isn't needed. You need to open the review screen that you described, it has a bar with stars above to rate. just leave the rest empty and send it in

Go to the asset store, then click on the "downloaded plugins" icon. It is the 4th one on the top icon bar. It is a triangle that points down into a tray (I think). From there, go to your game and choose the review action from the drop down menu.
