SystemInfo.deviceUniqueIdentifier got changed

Hello, I have a problem with SystemInfo.deviceUniqueIdentifier, which I am using to identify users. It seems that this value got changed, and now I have lost user data.

I would like to know when this value changes, and how can I uniquely identify a device permanently if this fails. The platforms are Windows, Mac, Linux.
