Question by jerk001 · Apr 01, 2012 at 05:05 PM · c#tutorials

One small step ...

Hi guys, I,m a 3d artist with 4 years experience in modelling, texturing animation, compositing in maya, 3ds max,Vray, realflow, aftereffets; working on modest projects. I,ve now have decided to carry forward this knowlegde into game development with Unity3D

But after scouring through the web, i,ve have realised that without scripting i wont be able to go far.

So here are my questions

1) C# seems to be the most comprehensive language for scripting, where can i find the best resources to learn it, as most tutorial i,ve found online are ECMA script based, and virtually nothing for Boo.

2) What kind of algorithms are necessary for game development, where should i start looking, and how didficult it is for a person without any techincal background to grasp them

3) Other than the programming language what other skills should a person posses to be a decent Game developer and Is there anything else i,ve not considered yet?

4) What changes i,ll have to make in my 3d workflow terms of rendering, compositng, exporting and how does game assests differ for broadcast output.

Please Guys i,d really appreciate you guys helping me out, to get a better understanding of wot i,m getting myself into. as I would really like to be a part of this community and give back in wotever way i can in terms of assests textures, walk cycles etc.

P.S:I,d request you to be as descriptive as possible in your responses and would appreciate any advice besides the questions i,ve posted

Thanks

1.Learn from the tutorials on the Unity website and read the forums, everything you need to know is there. 2.It's all about how much time you put into it. 3.It depends on the game being created. Audio, Art, programming, story... whatever else. 4.I don't know how rendering fits into the game unless you're thinking of creating sprites or something.
