Unity editor running slow, running game in editor fine
Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me.
When i run the unity editor the program itself runs really slow. Moving objects around the scene is practically impossible because of the lag that occurs. I've been having this problem since 3.4.2, and now I've upgraded to 3.5 and still having the same issue.
When running scene's in editor they play fine.
Creating a new project with just a cube has the same problem, the whole program being very unresponsive (opening menus, changing settings, etc...)
AMD Phenom II x6 Processor,
16gb Ram,
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,
Nvidia GTX 660 and GTX 550ti Running with Hydralogix software
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am having the same problem ... any fix for this???
No CPU / RA$$anonymous$$ spikes and i'm running the latest drivers.
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
SLI 2x Nvidia GTX 560 ti
12gb Ram
I also have this problem. I just upgraded to Win7-64, and this is the first time I've experienced the issue. Before I was running XP64, and had no issues.
I'm having the same issue. Computer specs: A$$anonymous$$D fx-6100 16GB of ram GT 560 Ti WIndows 7 ultimate 64bit
I have noticed something interesting though, if I run the Nvidia update then run unity straight after (without a restart) then it works perfectly! infact, everything I normally have issues works fine! But after I restart the machine it returns to running stupidly slow.
I did the exact same thing with the same results if this is the case then for some reason Unity does not pick up the card in the first place and just runs off the CPU.
Yep! $$anonymous$$e too. Last year, Unity ran fine, but then I didn't touch it for a year and I upgraded my computer from a integrated A$$anonymous$$D video card to a GTX560. I can play Crysis 2 fine, and my drivers are up to date. But the unity editor runs super laggy. The game runs ok, but the editor is really laggy, whether its rotating around my game view or changing and selecting data in the inspector. Any ideas! This really stinks....

How much is the CPU / RAM consumption ? Updated drivers?
Completly reinstalled it? Can you install a VM and test it?
I dont see now why it shouldnt run smooth on your system.
Running Unity along with Spotify and Google Chrome CPU usage and RA$$anonymous$$ Consumption are both around 20-40% The drivers for my computer are all up to date, and I'm not sure what V$$anonymous$$ to install.

Hey,
The only solution I found was to clean install nvidia drivers every time the problem appears, had to do this 2/3 times since I made this post, fixes it every time. Not sure what the actual cause is, Unity support weren't much help either...
Hope this helps.

You could try driversweeper ( http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html) and reinstall the drivers. I had to do this to fix some lag issues in a game with Radeon drivers. The update wouldn't stay after I restarted my computer. Make sure you download the drivers before uninstalling them with driversweeper, because when it starts with no drivers it will be 800x600 and hard to navigate. So it's much simpler to just be able to install the drivers and not search for them. Also be sure to uninstall ONLY the display drivers because driversweeper is unforgiving. Not really a program for an amateur computer user, not saying that you are! Good luck!

This is an one year old post, but I'll resurrect it just to said that adding Unity to the nvidia Control Panel solved the issue for me. I got a GTX550Ti. I disabled antialiasing and all, and perfomance improved. I then enabled everything back, at default level (which all software use, from the start) and it kept working. I've only found answers to the ubuntu version of this issue, so here's the Win7 64bit fix (at least for me).
