How can i track this in the background?
Hi, I am not trying to make a game, and i don't even know if what i am trying to do is possible, but i am trying to make an application where when i hit the button "1" it allows some integers to increase, but i want to do this to track something for a different game, and when i leave unity and go to this other game, and i hit 1, it doesn't change anything, but with unity opened it works perfectly fine. Just curious if there is any way to basically make this work in the background, where this program doesn't need to be the top program. Open obviously, but not the current program, if that makes sense. Sorry, i am not very good at explaining things. If this isn't possible just let me know! Thanks!

the very first thing to do would be to set unity to be able to run in the background, normally it will stop and not do anything when it's not the active program.
to do this go to edit>build settings. then on the bottom of that window hit player settings. in the inspector, under the resolution & presentation tab, make sure run in background is checked.
