Why does Unity Windows build use up more memory than WebGL?
Out of curiosity I tested out the Unity Profiler
on a blank WebGL
and Windows
build (No scripts or additional objects, just an empty scene with a camera). And I noticed that Windows
build consumes significantly more memory than it's WebGL
counterpart. I would normally expect the opposite, having the desktop version consume less than the one on the web.
What is the reason behind the increased memory usage?
Extra details:
Unity version: 2019.4.8f1
Operating system: Windows 10
Browser: Google Chrome 86.0.4240.75
