Problem of resolution with the Unity Terrain
The quality for painting terrain now is just ridiculously terrible. At least it is for me. Look at this image. In the top section, I am painting with a small size brush alongside a default 3d cube as I would do for small details on a map.
The bottom is where I tried to use a larger one but still encountered terrible quality as the edges are horribly jagged.
It's like the unity terrain is a low res grid now. I've been playing with all sorts of settings and looking online about this but to no avail.
Here are my terrain settings
I used to be able to use small brushes with no problem. But now I can't even use large ones to get decent quality! And If I go where its hard to see jagged edges, (meaning using a size 600+ or something) but then one click is like painting over the entire terrain! I can't work with that at all.
Please someone tell me what I am doing wrong here.
Also when I paint, it is only allowing me to paint block by block. So when I move in a diagonal line or something, it will appear like misshapen stairs. I have never had this issue before.
You are using a heightmap (Base Texture) with a resolution of 1024 x 1024
pixels on a terrain whose size is 1000 x 1000, meaning you have (approximately) 1 pixel for 1 unit, so yes, you can expect having a "bad resolution".
Okay. I will try that as soon as this massive facepalm comes to an end. Thanks
