Question by Greg the Coder · Dec 02, 2013 at 10:01 PM · instantiatevariabletopdownkinectzigfu

Zigfu Engage All Users. How to assign an instantiated object to a variable.

Hello community. This is my first question. I am using Zigfu to create a game where a player controls a Collector ball with their movements and collect sparks to earn points. At 1 minute intervals, The Collector ball moves differently from the player. In other words, in one minute, when the player moves up, the ball moves down. Player moves left, Collector ball moves right. That is all settled. The issue here is that when I press play and instantiate the "sphereperuser" prefab with the kinect, the ball does not move. I figured at first that it was because of the (Clone) suffix attached to it. So I used the code here

(http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/295326/how-to-remove-the-clone-from-instantiated-prefab-c.html)

to fix that. However, it still did not work. The only time it does work is when the game is running and I drag the instantiated sphere to the variable slot. Below is the script I am using to coordinate the movements of the Collector Ball and the SpherePerUser.

 var Dummy : Transform;

 var SpherePerUser : Transform;

 Dummy = GameObject.Find("Dummy").transform;

 var Timer : float = 0;

 SpherePerUser = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag("Player").transform;

 function Start () {

 }

 function Update () {

 Timer = Time.time;

 Dummy.transform.position.x = SpherePerUser.transform.position.x;

 Dummy.transform.position.z = SpherePerUser.transform.position.z;

 if (Timer >= 20.0)

 {

 Dummy.transform.position.x = SpherePerUser.transform.position.x*-1;

 Dummy.transform.position.z = SpherePerUser.transform.position.z*-1;

 }

 if (Timer >= 40.0)

 {

 Dummy.transform.position.x = SpherePerUser.transform.position.x;

 Dummy.transform.position.z = SpherePerUser.transform.position.z*-1;

 }

 if (Timer >= 60.0)

 {

 Dummy.transform.position.x = SpherePerUser.transform.position.x*-1;

 Dummy.transform.position.z = SpherePerUser.transform.position.z;

 }

 }

It is wrecking my brain. If anyone can help me out, that would be great. Please reply quickly if you can. Thank you for your time.

This may be too late to be useful but are you also making sure to set the engagedUser to your sphere object upon creation? There should be a Zigfu object in your scene with the script ZigEngageSingleUser that has the data you need to set to correspond to the zigskeleton you are manipulating (I find using the blockman prefab and disabling the mesh render on parts I don't want is quite effective)
