How to detect if an object is being moved back and forth by the user?

I have a salt object in my game and I would like to play a particle effect only when the salt is moved up and down constantly (shaking) by the player. How can I check if the transform of the salt is being moved up and down by the player?

Dont worry about checking for input detection, I just need to know how to check the back and forth movement.
