Question by VinnieH01 · Jun 16, 2017 at 09:28 PM · lightinglighting bugpoint lightpoint-light

Light shining/bleeding in between objects

Light from a point light is bleeding through the wall into another room, there are no gaps between the objects and the problem still occurs if I make the objects intersect. I also tried merging the verticies in blender but the result was still the same. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that no shadows are being cast so light isn't blocked/obscured, but I dont want any shadows in my game. There must be some kind of workaround, right? alt text

As long as no vertices are shared between triangle edges, there are in fact gaps (invisible or not), as far as the lighting engine is concerned. Try changing the light's bias and other settings.

Nice textures, by the way.

@Cherno I couldn't get it to work using lighting settings. I tried merging the verticies in blender but still got exactly the same result. Thanks!

As long as the faces have different uvs mappings, Unity will automatically split the vertices.

I'm not an expert on the Unity Lighting system, but I don't think there is a solution.

Turning on shadows would fix this. You can then bake the lighting then turn it off.
