Create caustic wate reflection
Hello,
I working on high quality visualisation of yachts. To make the transition between the water and the yacht a bit more lifely, want to implement caustic reflections in the side of the yacht. Below there 2 examples of what i mean.

I have been looking into projectors and decals to create this effect. But i'am getting stuck on finding the right shader to do this. Since my shader knowledge is pretty basic, i hope someone can point me in the right direction.
The closest i got was using the projector/Light shader from the standard assets. This works pretty well and gives a basic idea of the effect. The downside of the projector is that the entire hull gets projected on, without any way of tuning it down a bit on certain area's of the hull.
To get the best visual effect, i also need to animate it using an image sequence. I could do this from a script, but since it is already pretty performance heavy, i think doing this from an atlas in the shader would be better.
Since i also want to use it in VR projects, i want to make it work with forward rendering. Which if i understand it correctly makes this also a lot heavier on performance which in turn is problematic because, well... VR.
Maybe i'am trying to do something that not possible with the current hardware/ software, especially for VR. But, that would also be good to know. Any ideas would be appriciated.
Kind regards.
