Making a game engine with Unity engine? Legal?

Hello, so I was planning on buying Unity Pro and making a horror game engine using the Unity3D engine (This will work by using the 'engine' to create levels which will be saved as files then added to a separate unity build standalone). I was wondering if this was legal, also; would users be allowed to sell they're created games from the engine I'm planning to build within Unity Pro? Thanks!

Answer: "After contacting both unity support and the sales team the short answer is 'Yes', it is legal. :)"

that's a very strange question. you'd have to explain in much more detail how that would work.

Very strange indeed, basically, I will create a custom map/level maker unity stand-alone (which will create game-object position saves .etc and will be saved as .map files). Then, on another individual stand-alone (which I also built with unity), the .map files will be placed inside the application folder where they can be loaded. Thanks!

I'm guessing because I will be using unity pro they can't sell there games since I will be using unity pro features, is this true? also however; if I don't use any unity pro features will they be allowed to sell they're games?

For this type of matter, I would suggest speaking with Unity's Legal $$anonymous$$m if you want to know ALL details with respect to your question. Don't take people's answers from the forum to be 100% reliable. Talk to actual employees. You don't want to get sued over misconceptions so just shoot an email to Unity about your legal question.

I'm pretty sure it's legal. I know the Walker Boys are working on a game engine made with Unity called Build a Game, you may have heard of it. And if I recall, they allow their users/players to sell their games. Anyway Unity allows you to do whatever you want with no royalties under 100 grand. Just email them though.

Thank you for your replies, I contacted Unity via Email and will let you know the result. Thank you again!
