Divide mesh by whitespace
I have meshes that I import that have gaps between them, but they are at import all 1 mesh, I need to find a way to divide these meshes into their individual parts, based on the gaps between them.
So the imported mesh has shapes within it as in the image below:
What I need to end up with is, a separate mesh for each shape and to keep it's world coordinates. I know nothing about the dark art of mesh manipulation, I sort of have a handle on verts and triangles, normals etc but the issue I'm facing is how to detect the edge of each shape within the mesh and how to keep it's world position.
Can any mesh Guru's out there point me in the right direction
