Question by thestrandedmoose · Jan 03, 2018 at 11:17 PM · hosting

Best place to host your WebGL game

This is less of a unity question and more of a hosting question. Since DropBox does not allow game hosting, where should I host my webGL build? I've been looking for places and often people recommended GoogleDrive or Itch.io. Does anyone have any recommendations? Itch.io seems nice but I'm kind of wary of hosting my game with a company as that could lead to gray areas as to who owns the rights

Thanks, Rocco here founder of simmer.io! I might add, that we do one thing, and we do it really well, and that's Unity WebGL games. Just drag and drop and fill out a quick form about your game.

Thanks for the mention @rakkarage !

Unity does now let you publish to their Unity connect site directly through the Unity editor. You need to be logged in to see it under the Window menu, and you can push the build from there. It gives you a public URL to share or embed.

This is awesome. It seems to now be a package you install called "WebGL Publisher". Just tried it. Super quick and easy - though I wish it was more clear about the shareable link.

Update - As of Late October 2020, WebGL Publisher package isn't available with Unity 2020. Works with Unity 2019.4 perfectly.

Just upload it to your own website. Job done. . If you have a WordPress site then get this: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/integration/wordpress-for-unity-bridge-184949 . One of the asset's features is the ability to load a WebGL game on any page/post as simply as adding a shortcode where you want it to load. Boom! Instant free game hosting right there! .
