Create .unity3d files on server-side using PHP

Hello, i am developing an iOS unity 3d application (using unity pro 3.5.6) and we're downloading quite an amount of JPG images for showing in GUI. (preview images of 3d objects). Problem is, that Texture2D.loadImage() is really slow. So i am looking for a faster alternative. - I have recognized that loading images from Assets seems to load faster, PLUS i can use PVRTC compressed textures. - Is there any way to create such asses on a webserver, download them to unity and load it from there?

I never did find any easy way to do this. I hope you have better luck than I, and look forward to seeing some answers on this one.

  1. Install Unity on your Server

  2. Make an editor build script and add it to your project

  3. Call Unity's Commandline Argument "-executeMethod "

However, there's a bug in unity when making a build and using "-nographics" will result in a build without graphics (it is required if there is no monitor plugged in your server). On Windows others workaround this by connecting via RemoteDesktop to force Windows to start the graphiccard's drive, thus "-nographics" is not needed. If you only want to build AssetBundles or Scenes, you may not bother with this.
