Preparing to start 2.5d beat'em up, craving for advice
Hi! I'm preparing to start my first beat'em up game and would be grateful if you, guys, can share some of your experiences with me. Closest gameplay reference is "mother russia bleeds" or "castle crushers". So game characters will be moving in 3 dimensions. What i'am planning so far:
- using 2d sprites for characters and environment
- using 3d trigger colliders on sprites for gameplay interactions (combat and etc.)
- using 3d physics for jumps and creating impact
- using tilted orthographic camera to render this stuff
I'm not sure if this design can lead to some hard to solve problems. Would be grateful for some advice. Or for some better options to use during this basic design step.
