How to use local version in Asset Server conflict
Seems like the only usable option in an Asset Server conflict is to Discard Local. Of the other two:
Skip means you'll have to deal with it later, and
"Ignore" option is very, very scary. It means to ignore the server but at the same time don't mark my local copy as being new or updated. This means that (a) no one will get my changes and (b) once there's another update on the server for this file my local copy will just get wiped.
Wow, that's no good. Really, neither of those 2 options should even exist, especially option 2.
What's really needed is an option to "use local version" and then letting you commit your file over the server's file.
A very easy test case for this:
Create some scene, and bake a Navmesh for it.
Commit this to the Asset Server
In the Navmesh pane, choose "Clear", then "Bake" and save the scene
Try commit your changes
At this point there is no way to actually update the navmesh file on the server with your local one. This seems really problematic. Any workarounds to this?
Thanks!
Yeah this asset server BS is annoying especially when I paid for it. SVN works way better.
