Question by Baldinoboy · Jul 31, 2013 at 01:35 PM · assetasset storepackagestore

Raising the price of an asset in the Asset Store.

I've been working a lot on the updates for a package I made for the asset store. I'm going to release a new update soon and was wondering about raising the price. The package has improved a lot since it's first release.

It's just from $5 to $10.

I just want to make sure the people who already bought the package don't have to pay again.

Should I mention the price change in the updates panel?

Would my package be unpopular because of a price raise?

Thanks for your time.

Regarding just increasing from 5$ to 10$. Its a 100% increase.

I am not judging your your price. Could be very much worth the increase.

Warning about the price increase in the asset store forum post, could get you some sales due to the sense of urgency of buying, if people are on the fence to buy it. (I do not have any assets it the store, but I impulse buy there a lot more than I like to think about)

If you raise the price, people who have already bought it will NOT have to pay again.

If your asset is professional and worth it, raising it from 5 to 10 shouldn't make it unpopular.

No need to mention the price raise, except if you want people to rush before it happens.

Sorry for refreshing the thread. What if I downloaded free asset and now it costs few $. 1. Can I use this asset? 2. If yes, can I upgrade it for free?

You can use the asset you have a license to. You may or may not be able to upgrade for free. Publishers can now change price by setting up an upgrade; if a publisher sets up a special upgrade you will have to pay a fee to upgrade (usually less than the price). I can't really think of a time though when a publisher would want to charge for a free asset because a lot of people already have the asset.
