Question by Tom 3 · Jun 23, 2010 at 09:34 PM · combinechildrenmeshcombine

How to use CombineChildren.cs?

Time for another newbie question!

We're trying to use CombineChildren.cs or MeshCombineUnity.cs to reduce the draw call count in a RTS game for the iphone. However, given a simple scene with three identical buildings, it only merges two of them.

Can anyone educate me on the basic requirements and exceptions I need to be aware of in order to make effective use of these scripts?

Thanks!

it'll merge any mesh with any other mesh(es) using the exact same instance of a material

besides that, you just have to make sure you're adding the script to a parent to all three objects you want combining

i have a problem attaching the CombineChiledren.cs script , it is showing an error that "Assets/Downloads/CombineChildren.cs(52,25): error CS0246: The type or namespace name `MeshCombineUtility' could not be found. Are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?" please help me with this.

just make sure that you have all the standard scripting assets. If not, re import it from the assets. You are missing the script.

In Combine Children Script. It is possible to change the Hashtable to Dictionary and Arraylist to List. If anyone did that means post here the link or the script
